Forty new cases were confirmed on Friday, the health ministry announced. This brings the total no of cases in Cyprus to 396. There was one new death, a man aged 64, bringing the total to 11.
Twenty-nine of the new cases were people who came into contact with confirmed cases, two arrived from abroad and the backgrounds of the remaining nine cases are being investigated. From the cases that were being investigated, 11 have been traced back to contacts and 10 are still being investigated.
Dr Leontios Kostrikis said that 268 of the 396 confirmed cases are from contact with other people found positive to Coronavirus.
9,447 tests have been conducted so far by CING, the microbiology department at Nicosia and Limassol Hospitals and by private labs.
27 people have so far been cured from the virus.
Leontios Kostrikis called anew on the public to follow the government’s instructions as well as hygiene rules.
