Limassol Municipality announced on friday a donation of €30,000 to Limassol General Hospital for buying the hospital equipments for the ICU.
“This symbolic gesture by the municipality wants to send a message of respect and love to the medical staff in our hospitals who are fighting a heroic battle in the front line for all of us,” the announcement said.
Until yesterday, 2 patients with Coronavirus were being treated in the ICU of Limassol hospital in a stable but serious condition.
The announcement clarified that €20,000 come from the municipality’s funds and the rest is contributions by the mayor and the municipal council.
In a separate development, the Limassol mayor Nicos Nicolaides and municipal officials participated on Friday in a video conference with groups representing foreign nationals in Limassol to coordinate on matters concerning third country nationals that live in the city.
In the teleconference it was decided to set up a multicultural team to resolve such matters as translation and distribution of Covid-19 material in many languages spoken in Limassol.
The meeting followed another teleconference on Thursday with about 60 representatives of the Russian community in Limassol.
