Two men stopped by Paphos police to check whether they were in compliance with stay at home decrees ended up behind bars on suspicion of stealing the bicycles they were riding.
The two, both Georgian nationals, are aged 45 and 33.
They were stopped by police on Agapinoros Street on Sunday and asked to show they had secured permission to leave the house. One did not have an ID and neither had secured the necessary permission under the stay at home decree.
They were also unable to give adequate explanation about the bicycles and police investigations showed that these were stolen.
Both were arrested and are expected to be charged in writing to appear in court on a later date.
