Draft to restart economy is finalized on Monday Finance Minister said

The Cabinet meeting on Monday to finalize the proposal for the first stage of restarting the economy and easing the measures and will be presented on Tuesday to the President Nicos Anastasiades, so that the Council of Ministers will take over on Wednesday. The Minister of Finance, Konstantinos Petridis, stated relevant decisions to CNA.

Finance Minister also said that the committee which consists of Ministries and Undersecretaries participating in the inter-ministerial committee has been working intensively 4 days to prepare the relevant proposal and is working this weekend as well.

The committee will Present the Draft on Monday to finalize, which will be presented to the President on Tuesday.

Petridis underlined that the committee will take into account all the data that will be presented by the epidemiological team and the advisory committee. “We will take into account all scientific, economic and social data and we cannot judge excerpts from either medical, economic or social data,” he said.

Moreover, the Finance Minister said that information is coming out which is not correct in relation to the proposal for the first phase of restarting the economy and relaxation of the citizens’ trafficking measures. “Many of the things that are presented as decisions are baseless,” he said.

It is recalled that the Cabinet had earlier this month approved the establishment of an inter-ministerial committee chaired by the Minister of Finance, which also includes the Ministers of Health, Energy, Trade and Industry, Communications and Works, Labor, Welfare and Social Security. Research and Digital Policy and Tourism.

Also, by decision of the Council of Ministers, the steering committee was set up, chaired by a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science and attended by representatives of other Ministries and Undersecretaries participating in the inter-ministerial committee, as well as officials of the epidemiological monitoring unit of the Ministry of Health.
