An additional 20,000 workers will be tested, whose businesses will be re-open in the near future as part of a strategy to gradually lift restrictive measures.
The decision was taken today by the Council of Ministers, approving the proposal presented by the Minister of Health, Konstantinos Ioannou, following a recommendation by the epidemiological team.
The decision was made in the context of the policy implemented from the beginning by the Ministry of Health to strengthen controls in the population of Cyprus and then the Test of 20,000 employees in the public and Private sector, which includes the National Guard, Fire Brigade and Police.
A small test for 2,000 employees in small and medium-sized enterprises for the retail trade of beverages and food and nursing homes, as well as for the random sampling of 800 people.
The new program will examine 20,000 employees in companies that will be re-open after lifting the restrictive measures of the first phase and will have direct contact with the public.
More details about the companies and how the test will be conducted will be announced in the coming days.
The Ministry of Health recommended for the obligatory use of a mask on retail workers who serve the public. The Council of Ministers approved the free provision of masks to these companies to meet some of their needs.
Free masquerade will be given to the Departments of the public and wider public sector, where the public is served.
