26 construction site closed by labour inspectors

The Labour Inspectors on Friday carried out 564 inspections. They shut down Four construction sites that failed to implement decrees to stop the spread of coronavirus. Two sites were in Limassol, one Paphos, and another one Larnaca.

They also carried out 76 inspections of construction sites where they found a reasonable level of compliance.

Overall checks conducted by Friday include 3,160 inspections at Shops that resumed work and 564 at construction sites.

Some did not have the required hygiene facilities; workers were not wearing masks where needed, were no observing distancing rules, and had not been instructed about protective measures. In four cases, construction sites ordered to stop work.

Inspections will continue, and if necessary, fines will impose as per the law (out of court fines, prosecution, and quick suspension of work), the Labour Ministry added.
