A 31-year-old man was arrested in the early morning on Saturday for an attempt to murder a 34-year-old foreigner on Friday afternoon in Paphos has been remanded in custody for eight days by the Paphos District Court, the CNA reports.
Both men are foreign nationals, the suspect from Russia, and the victim from Georgia.
The 31-year-old suspect was in Paphos on holiday but stranded in Cyprus after the flight ban because of Coronavirus.
He was arrested on Saturday morning while he was going to his apartment, and he was under police surveillance.
During the investigation following his arrest, the 31-year-old confessed that the victim went to his apartment with another two men, whom he named, to beat him up.
The 34-year-old victim, however, who is being treated at the ICU of Paphos Hospital, had said that the suspect owed him money, which is the reason he sought him out.
