The head of public secondary schools (lyceums) has decided to open the school from Monday after a teleconference with Education Minister Prodromos Prodromou.
Headmasters and teachers took part in a teleconference on Saturday; they were briefed on the health protocols on how they would be implemented on Monday. The presentation conducted by Dr. Zoi-Dorothea Pana and other members of the health ministry’s advisory committee, who answered the teacher’s questions.
From monday final year high school students and rest of the schools are scheduled to open on May 21.
According to instructions, only 12 students will be allowed in each classroom. Signs have been placed in passageways for students to keep a two-meter distance and posters with instructions will be put up where necessary.
Apart from the hygiene protocol in schools, attendees were also presented with data on Covid-19 and the epidemiological situation in Cyprus with special importance on children.
Antiseptic gels, masks, and thermometers will also be at hand.
Instructions were simplified so that they can be clear to students on Monday when they arrived.
Teachers have been informed of their new timetables and each school will notify graduates returning on Monday of the group they are in and the classroom they would be sitting.
On Monday, teachers will spend the entire first period and the second if necessary, to go over the health guidelines and personal safety rules the students must follow while in school.
