The warm air current affecting the island will take temperatures a touch under August levels over the next 48 hours, with 38 tomorrow and possibly almost 40 on Tuesday before it gradually starts subsiding on Wednesday.
Winds tomorrow will initially be light to moderate northwesterly force three to four, later turning mainly southwesterly to northwesterly light to moderate and in western areas, strong force four to five, over slight seas and moderate in the afternoon in windwards regions.
Temperatures will rise to 38 degrees Celsius inland, 34 over southern and eastern coastal regions, 32 in the rest of the coastal areas and 31 on the mountains.
Summer like conditions will gather pace on Tuesday, with yet a further rise to just under 40 degrees, significantly higher than the seasonal.
Temperatures will start steadily dropping on Wednesday, still remaining above the seasonal average however. It will turn increasingly cloudy on Thursday.
Dust is also expected tomorrow for most of the day.
Today saw significant levels of humidity in coastal regions, more than 60 percent in Limassol and Paphos.
