Thirty new coronavirus cases were announced by the health ministry on Tuesday, bringing the total to 1,743.
The cases arose out of 2,685, the ministry said, and included four more footballers from the Asil Lysis tested as part of a testing programme in Larnaca, one of whom is a student at a Larnaca private school. The cluster from the team has now reached seven, the ministry said.
Two more people were also found positive in the Larnaca testing programme, a student at a Larnaca lyceum that plays for the Nea Salamina academy, and a Larnaca resident.
Nine cases were found from individuals tested on private initiative. One is an individual who developed muscle pain on September 24 and developed more symptoms on September 28.
The second is a student at Linopetra gymnasium and is a contact of another student announced positive to the virus on Sunday. The ministry said despite the fact the two students had daily contact, Tuesday’s case had not been declared a contact.
The third person is an individual that arrived from Germany on September 13 and developed symptoms on September 21.
The fourth is a member of Unficyp, who arrived from England.
The fifth is an individual from Lebanon, who arrived on September 17 and on the twelfth day of a mandatory quarantine was retested and found positive. Two further cases were found positive after testing before the end of their self-isolation, one who arrived from Ukraine on September 13 and one who was the contact of an announced case on September 14.
The eight person was tested after their work requested a test.
The ninth person is British tourist, who arrived on September 25, and was tested on September 27, after developing symptoms.
Two further cases were identified from tests on people arriving from abroad, one from London in Paphos on September 28, and the second who arrived in Larnaca from Moscow on the same day.
Thirteen cases came from contact tracing. One is a family-member of an Omonia player. Four were contacts of positive cases at the Ethnikos Achnas football club.
The sixth is a contact of a worker from a company in Limassol announced on September 26. A seventh individual is a family-member of a Larnaca Ocean Basket employee announced on September 22.
The eighth is a contact of an elderly individual, who tested positive on September 26.
Another three people are family-members of a case announced on September 26. The individual arrived from Greece, and the cluster now stands at five.
A twelfth individual is a family-member of a case announced on September 27, while the thirteenth individual is a family-member of case announced on September 24.
Sixteen people are being treated at Famagusta General, the reference hospital. Four of them are in the high-dependency unit.
