Hundreds of people gathered on Saturday evening outside the Limassol district administration office to protest the latest restrictive measures against the spread of coronavirus and also corruption.
Nine people are expected to be taken to court later on Sunday after they were arrested during a demonstration against new measures to fight the coronavirus in Limassol on Saturday evening along with 21 others.
According to the police, 30 people were arrested at the demo. Eleven of them were charged with violating recent decrees and released, two were charged for being drunk and obstructing police officers from carrying out their duties, and one for attacking a police officer.
The nine due to be taken to court were arrested for rioting.
The protest on Anexartisias street started at 6pm.
Hundreds of people gathered chanting slogans against parliament, corruption, the obligatory use of masks, and the €300-fines given to people accused of violating the imposed measures.
