Indoor use of Facemask to be scrapped from 1st of June

The mandatory use of face masks will probably be suspended except in high-risk areas such as hospitals and closed venues. The proposal is submitted by Health Minister Michalis Hadjipantela to the cabinet CNA reported on Thursday.

According to Local News Phileleftheros , a few days ago, the Health Minister asked the members of the Advisory Scientific Committee about some measures against Covid-19 that are still in place, including the use of mask indoors.

Health Minister Michael Hadjipantelas will examine all positions and then will submit relevant the proposals to the Cabinet, which will meet on Friday, even though it is possible that the issue will be examined during the Cabinet’s meeting next week.

Most scientists approve the Scrapping of the use of face masks under conditions, even though some experts expressed concerns.

According to the Sources, the majority of the government’s advisory team for coronavirus favour suspending the face mask requirement indoors, under conditions.

There are also thoughts about the frequency of tests needed before visiting high-risk areas, however, the scientists’ positions on the issue were not clear, since they believe that the danger of transmitting the virus to vulnerable persons is still high.

Finally, the Health Ministry is thinking of further reducing the ceiling of the PCR price to 30 euros, but this is also not final yet.
