Man caught stealing Gold-plated candlesticks from church in Limassol

Police arrested a 29-year-old man on Wednesday and accused him allegedly stealing two gold-plated candlesticks of unknown value from the Agia Theodora church in Mouttagiaka.

According to the police, the theft was reported earlier on Wednesday by a 43-year-old man working at the church. Further investigations revealed that the perpetrator entered the premises from the main entrance and that he also attempted to rob the donation box.

He was arrested while driving his vehicle on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway.

Police found Candlesticks in a bag on the back seat of his car, as well as two screwdrivers.

Police returned Candles to the church while the man will have to answer to accusations of burglary and theft.
