Police arrested three men in connection with burglaries

Police arrested three men in connection with separate cases of burglary, theft, and illegal possession of property in Limassol and Larnaca.

According to the police announcement, the man stole copper wires and copper pipes of air conditioning units while damage was also caused to electrical installations and doors on the ground floor of the property. The stolen property and damage are estimated at €4,000.

The first arrest concerned a 32-year-old man who was arrested in relation to a burglary from a house under construction that took place in the Limassol district around 1am on March 26.

Another man, aged 27, was arrested in Larnaca after police received information that a person was trying to break into a water refill unit in Larnaca around 10pm on Tuesday.

When officers arrived at the scene, the suspect attempted to flee on foot dropping a crowbar on the ground. Police also found a bicycle and a bag with screwdrivers, a 19 cm blade knife and a dummy gun part near the water station. The suspect was found around 1.30am on Wednesday. He admitted to the crimes during police questioning.

Meanwhile, 30 minutes after midnight on Wednesday, Limassol police stopped the car of a 37-year-old man for a check in Kato Polemidia. They found a small quantity of dried cannabis and a substance believed to be crystal meth as well as various burglary tools in a bag in his car.

They also found three water pressure pumps and a metal cutting tool for which the 37-year-old could not provide sufficient explanations.

The man was also arrested for driving without insurance, MOT or road tax while his car was registered as immobilised in the road transport department.
