According to a police spokesperson on Monday night members of the Paphos traffic police stopped a car driven by a 33-year-old man against whom an arrest warrant was pending from Famagusta and Nicosia TAE.
The 20-year-old co-driver was found in possession of three prescriptions filled out with names and dates for a medicine containing codeine.
Suspicions were raised that the prescriptions may have been forged and upon examination it was determined that the signatory doctor is off work and bedridden, therefore he could not have signed the prescriptions.
In a search of the 20-year-old’s residence a stamp of the doctor in question was found, bearing with his name, as well as a number of bottles with the prescribed medicine.
The 20-year-old was subsequently arrested for forgery with a court warrant. The 33-year-old driver was handed over to Famagusta TAE for further questioning.
The case is still under investigation.
